Verdun is a multiplayer map in Call of Duty 3.

Overview[]

Verdun consisted of a series of bunkers and tunnels connected by trenches. Compared to other Multiplayer maps, Verdun is one of the smallest and features no vehicles. Capture The Flag proved to be very hectic due to the short traveling time between flags.

Layout[]

Verdun is completely symmetrical in shape. The main building is a giant bunker with an extremely small hallway leading into both team spawn points and some sets of stairs all leading to ground level. On ground level there is mainly an open field with a long line of trenches curving around a hill with a small building along the way. In the middle of the small hallway in the bunker, there is a ladder which leads down to a "dugout" area inside the hill. There are two vents leading to each side of the bunker, and a tunnel which forks into three routes. The first two routes which go left and right lead out front the bunker, again the map is very symmetrical so there is not much difference to either side. The third one which goes down the middle of the two leads into the series of trenches, the exit being extremely close to the entrance of a small building.

In simple terms, if the player were to look at Verdun from a bird's eye view, it looks like a smiley face. The two-sided bunker being the eyes, the dugout hill being the nose, and the series of trenches outside the bunker being the smile.
