The Falaise Gap

The Falaise Gap was pocket of German-controled land during World War II.

Overview

After D-Day the Allies continued to push back the Germans from France into the Falaise Gap. Realizing that the Germans could escape General Bernard Montgomery planned to close the gap between Trun and Chambois. the Canadians, Polish, and British invaded the Falaise Gap from the north, and the Americans entered from the south. Soon on August 19th the American 90th Infantry Division took Chambois, 10 km north east of Argentan, where they met up with the Canadians who were heading south towards the town.

The Falaise Gap is first shown in the video game Call of Duty 3 while fighting in four Allied campaigns.
